Fairer home ownership

Scrutiny of all new building schemes to ensure fairness to all. Camden residents should at least be in a position to buy at a fair price. Don't allow homes to be sold to those who won't live in them.

Ensure shared ownership schemes aren't just developers scamming prospective homeowners.  Too many of those in or near the Kings Cross development cannot be considered to be helping people by offering shared ownership on a property that costs £800,000 upwards. Nobody locally who might be wanting desperately to own a property, can afford these.  How is this allowed.

Why the contribution is important

People who were born or have lived in Camden all their lives are having to move away from all they love, just to be able to afford a home.

Camden should take some responsibility for allowing house building schemes that exclude those who live in the Borough.

Increase the subsidy for Right to Buy to allow more tenants to gain entry to home ownership, using the proceeds to build more affordable housing for social use.
