Solar energy to light our streets

Elizabeth-Ann from Belsize spoke at the Citizens’ Assembly (watch the vide below):
“I have an idea that in 2025… all the streets will be solar lit. That will mean that when it’s dark, they’ll go on, so even if it’s stormy, it means it won’t use fossil fuel or anything else, and it means that people won’t fall on fallen leaves and things.”

Why the contribution is important

Use of solar energy can ensure that streets are lit at night especially in autumn and winter to reduce accidents when people can't see where they are walking eg. slipping on fallen leaves.

A great idea on how Camden can save money

Just like the process Camden has to re-pave the pathways and pavements of the borough, this should be a part of a rolling street rejuvenation with a number of streets completed per year. This will keep costs down and prevent a logjam of streets near to the close date
